The Professional Choice: The Walther Rotex RM8 Varmint

The Walther Rotex RM8 Varmint is a masterclass in functional airgun engineering. Built on the proven RM8 platform, the Varmint edition trades traditional wood for a high-impact, all-weather tactical chassis. At Huntsman Sports, we recommend the Walther Rotex RM8 Varmint for shooters who need a rifle—one that provides the accuracy of a match-grade target gun with excellent durability.

Match-Grade Accuracy with Lothar Walther

The heart of the Walther Rotex RM8 Varmint is its barrel.

• Lothar Walther Barrel: This rifle is equipped with a world-renowned Lothar Walther match-grade barrel. It is precision-choked to ensure that every .22 pellet leaves the muzzle with incredible consistency, allowing for sub-inch groupings at 40+ yards.
• Regulated Performance: The RM8 features an internal regulator that ensures every shot in the buddy bottle’s charge is fired at the same velocity. This eliminates the “power curve” common in unregulated rifles, ensuring your point of impact remains the same from the first shot to the last.
• 1/2″ UNF Threaded Muzzle: The barrel is capped with a protector covering a standard thread, allowing you to easily attach a sound moderator to make this rifle virtually silent in the field.

Tactical Ergonomics and Varmint Stock

The Walther Rotex RM8 Varmint is designed for maximum stability during long waiting periods.

• Thumbhole Synthetic Stock: The black polymer stock features an ergonomic thumbhole design, providing a more natural wrist angle for superior trigger control. The material is entirely weatherproof, meaning it won’t warp or swell in the British rain.
• Integrated Picatinny Rail: Unlike the standard RM8, the Varmint model includes a lower Picatinny rail on the forend, perfect for mounting a bipod or tactical torch.
• Buddy Bottle Reservoir: The 200cc aluminum buddy bottle provides approximately 180 shots per fill in .22 caliber, ensuring you have enough air for an entire day’s shooting without needing a pump.

Reliable 8-Shot Magazine System

The Walther Rotex RM8 Varmint utilize the legendary Umarex 8-shot aluminum rotary magazine.

• Smooth Bolt Action: The oversized cocking bolt is positioned perfectly for rapid follow-up shots. The mechanical indexing is crisp and reliable, even when using longer hunting pellets.
• Two-Stage Adjustable Trigger: The trigger can be fine-tuned to your preference, offering a clear “wall” and a crisp break that is essential for long-range precision.
• Automatic Safety: A rear-mounted safety engages automatically upon cocking, providing an extra layer of security during movement in the field.

Why Choose .22 for the Rotex RM8 Varmint?

In .22 (5.5mm), the Walther Rotex RM8 Varmint is the ultimate tool for ethical pest control. The larger caliber delivers significant “knock-down” energy, making it highly effective for rabbits, rats, and squirrels. Because the rifle is regulated, the .22 pellets fly with extreme consistency, allowing hunters to take confident, humane shots at varied distances.
