Buying & Ownership Guide: Tactical Air Guns & SMGs
UK Legal Limits & Ownership
All airguns and air pistols supplied by Huntsman comply strictly with UK firearms legislation:
Air Pistols: Maximum power output of up to 6 ft-lbs (8.1 Joules).
Air Rifles: Maximum power output of up to 12 ft-lbs (16.2 Joules).
Age Requirement: You must be 18 years or older to purchase any airgun, ammunition, or CO2 capsules. In accordance with UK law, airguns cannot be posted directly to your home address via standard courier; they must be collected in-store with valid government-issued photo ID or dispatched via face-to-face RFD (Registered Firearms Dealer) transfer.
Choosing Between CO2, Electric (AEG), and Break-Barrel
CO2 Powered (e.g., KWC M11, Taurus 24/7, WE 1911): Powered by standard 12g CO2 capsules. These deliver realistic semi-automatic cycling, crisp trigger response, and authentic blowback action. Ideal for rapid double-taps and tactical drill training.
Electric / EAG (e.g., EMG Daniel Defense M4): Driven by rechargeable LiPo batteries and precision gearboxes. These provide sustained shot strings with zero drop in pressure and no ongoing gas costs.
Spring / Gas-Piston Break-Barrel (e.g., BO Manufacture Pendleton): Offers the look of a modern tactical carbine with the self-contained reliability of mechanical spring power—no gas capsules or batteries required.
Essential Care & Maintenance
To keep your tactical airgun cycling smoothly:
Lubrication: When using CO2 platforms, apply a drop of silicone oil (never petroleum-based solvents) to the tip of every third or fourth CO2 capsule to preserve internal O-rings and prevent air leaks.
Gas Storage: Never store a CO2 gun with a pierced capsule inside under pressure. Remove the cylinder after each shooting session to avoid deforming the main seal.
Ammunition Match: Use high-grade, precision-ground .177 (4.5mm) steel BBs or match pellets. Deformed, recycled, or low-grade ammunition will jam high-capacity stick magazines and damage precision barrels.
